Art direction & animation for Vori Health

I worked with the design team at Vori health to begin developing an illustration and animation style that had an emphasis on motion, texture and fluidity. As an online physical therapy and health coaching company, the concept of this animation was to highlight the constant go-go-go effect that everyday life can have on a body, and how one can take a more active approach to healing with the help of a Vori care team. I really enjoyed coming up with creative transitions from scene to scene in this animation. Enjoy!

Movement

The result of this animation style is one that has a hand-made feel to it. Constant motion to the line-work and textures bring life to the simple design.

Storyboards

Before moving into color and animation, black and white storyboards help show the general storyline and the transitions between scenes.

Color Scripts

Once the storyboards are approved, I create full color versions of specific scenes in the animation to show how the color and style will be treated in the final version. These static images are called Keyframes and will be used as transition points when I go to create the final animation. This style of animation is drawn frame by frame, so it’s important to get approval on the color and style before going into the final project because making changes to color after the animation has begun can be very time consuming. Here are a few of the Keyframes.

Illustration

At Vori, we wanted to use illustration and animation as a way to bring an uplifting and playful feeling to the digital healthcare space - one which often feels cold and sterile.

We focused on using a limited color palette that also complimented the rich green hue of the Vori brand.

Health Quiz

These illustrations were used to compliment a health quiz to test ones knowledge about back pain.

Product illustration

Vori ultimately ended up going with a photography-first design, but it was still fun to explore how we could use this illustration style in product.
